Third Edition June 1928 (First Edition, Oct. 1925) A novel by the Author of the 'Saunters Through Kent' series. Set in the last year of the Great War, 1918, it tells the story of Captain Hubert Hastings, who, invalided out of the army, came to live and farm in the Stour valley in East Kent. Here he fell in love with Dorothy Pattenden, daughter of the owner of Godstone Hall. A thinly disquised pseudonym for Godmersham Park. The many local scenes described include: Eastwell Park, Soakham Downs, Wye and Ashford. 8vo., bound in red cloth, 273pp. Ink name and heavy pencil name and number to ffep. Light foxing to endpapers only. Spine rather faded with light soiling to rear cover and slight edgewear. Overall Good+ Copy.
