Second Edition, Dec.1925 (First Edition, Oct. 1925) A novel by the Author of the 'Saunters Through Kent' series. Set in the last year of the Great War, 1918, it tells the story of Captain Hubert Hastings, who, invalided out of the army, came to live and farm in the Stour valley in East Kent. Here he fell in love with Dorothy Pattenden, daughter of the owner of Godstone Hall. A thinly disquised pseudonym for Godmersham Park. The many local scenes described include: Eastwell Park, Soakham Downs, Wye and Ashford. 8vo., bound in red cloth, 273pp. Foxing to edges and endpapers plus occasionally throughout, bookplate over ink inscription to ffep, a few small marks to boards, spine a little faded. A Good copy overall.
