FIRST EDITION (probably no more than 100 copies printed) 4to., bound in textured, blind-stamped blue cloth, gilt. [vi] (inc. list of Subscribers) + 244pp., Indexed, with 14 b/w illustrations. From the library of John L.[ewis] Roget (compiler of Roget's Thesaurus and author of Sketches of Deal, Walmer, and Sandwich) with his signature, address and date (1882) to front pastedown along with a small portrait on what looks like a postage stamp, with perforated edges but no text or numerals (please see photos). Previous owner's pencil notes to foot of front pastedown. Very occasional light foxing. Heavy tanning to last page of Index. Inner hinges a little stretched and weak. Rubbing and light wear to all edges, slight loss and small tears to top and base of spine. Overall a Good, Association Copy.
