FIRST EDITION Small 4to. (approx. 22 x 17cm) hardback rebound in quarter tan calf with raised bands, dark maroon title label, gilt to spine, and marbled boards. New endpapers. [xvi], 64pp., 438pp. including 1 page Advertisements at end. PLEASE NOTE: the pagination is all over the place but the book has been collated and the text is continuous. HOWEVER, pp. 9-16 (Gather B) ARE PHOTOCOPIED FACSIMILE which has been done quite well with similar colour and weight of stock (please see photo). With the scarce engraved, folding portrait frontispiece. 2cm deep strip with ink name and date (Joseph G..... Sept 11 1660) bound in with tissue guard to blank before title page (please see photo). Later ink inscription to earlier blank and small modern bookplate to front pastedown. Pencil notes to front and rear pastedowns and occasional old ink and pencil annotations to margins. Small stain to the foot of some leaves, not affecting text. Slight staining to top outer edge of frontispiece and title page (please see photos). Very slight fading to marbled board edges. A VERY GOOD COPY excepting the one facsimile gather.
