FIRST EDITION 2 Volumes. 8vo. hardbacks in original publisher's blue/grey cloth with decorative gilt, black and blue titles to spines and upper boards. 424pp. and 406pp. plus 32pp. Publisher's List at end. Tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait to Volume I along with 4 tissue-guarded colour plates and many b/e plates and vignettes within the text. Volume II has folding colour map at end plus b/w plates and vignettes. Pencil name and date (1884) to early blank of Volume I and occasional pencil marks in margins. Volume II appears to be clean. Occasional light foxing, heavier to prelims and foredges. Small closed tear and slight browning to creases of folding map. Spines slightly browned with some light rubbing and wear to edges. A few small spots of soiling to boards (please see photos). Overall a GOOD+ SET.
