FIRST EDITION Volume I only. 8vo. full tan calf hardback with raised bands and one red and two black title labels, decorative gilt, to spine. Marbled endpapers. 344pp., illustrated with a folding "Map of the Country Thirty Degrees round the North Pole" as frontispiece, 11 steel engraved plates and another folding map of Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Engraved armorial bookplate of Sir James Buller East, Bart. to front pastedown. The spine is split almost entirely in half vertically (held by one thread) and one gather in the centre is loose. Spine also rubbed with some loss to title labels and damage to head and foot (please see photos). Boards somewhat scuffed and edgeworn. Overall a Good Reading Copy.
