FIRST EDITION. Three Volumes. 4to., bound in full red roan with raised bands and decorative gilt to spines and highly decorative gilt and blind-embossing to upper and lower boards. Gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers, a.e.g. Each volume has a tissue-guarded colour frontipiece and a colour vignette to title page plus 38 tissue-guarded colour plates, one for each residence listed, and blue marker ribbons. Inner hinges of all Vols reinforced with dark green tape. A clean set with no previous owners' markings or inscriptions. Inner hinges all rather stretched, Vol II front inner hinge with slight damage to the tissue-guard. Occasional light foxing. Edges of spines and boards rather rubbed, with occasional soiling and small splashes of black ink (to Vol I particularly). Spine ends and corners rather more rubbed with some loss to top layer of roan. Overall a VERY GOOD, HANDSOME SET.
