Three Volumes, 8vo., bound in full calf gilt, with raised bands to spine, gilt lines and decorations, gilt lined edges to covers, and armorial device to front, t.e.g., marbled endpapers; Vol I: [viii] + 350pp; Vol II: [vii] + 352pp; Vol III: [vii] + 338pp, indexed; engraved portrait frontispiece to each Volume, illustrated throughout with engraved plates, some double-page. Approximately 90 extra plates (18th and 19th century), mostly portraits, have been bound in throughout the three volumes. Previous owner's ink initials to reverse of Vol I frontis. Foxing to edges and to varying degrees throughout (heaviest to plates), covers dampstained from shelf edge to just below half way, a few small marks, a little scuffing to board edges and spine tops. A Good set overall.
