[xxviii], 556pp., indexed, plus 24pp. Publisher's List at end. With b/w engraved plates and woodcut illustrations in the text. Ink presentation inscription, dated 1874, to title page plus further inscriptions in same hand to top of List of Illustrations page, and to blank (facing engraved portrait of Lt. Col. P. Hawker) which also has a studio portrait photograph of the Editor (Hawker's son, Major Hawker) pasted in. The photograph has some light ink retouching to hair and eyes. 2cm strip removed neatly from top of title page - please see photo. Heavy water stain to lower, outer corner of first few pages. Light foxing to prelims. Very slight rubbing to spine with some edgewear and staining to boards. Overall a Good+ Association Copy.
