FIRST EDITION One of 50 large paper copies. 3 Volumes. 4to. full calf, recased using original spines and boards. Decorative gilt borders to boards. Dark red title labels, decorative gilt and raised bands to spines. a.e.g. 496, 520 and 506pp. All three volumes illustrated with particularly fine steel engravings, 65 full-page, some folding, plus 3 vignettes. Vol. II also has a large folding chart of the Red Sea at the end, and Vol. III has a large folding geometrical Survey of Alexandria, a small folding plan, and the second part of Vol. IIs Chart of the Red Sea. Edges of folding plans and charts a little creased and worn. Occasional light foxing/offsetting but overall remarkably clean and bright internally. Engraved armorial bookplates of George Chetwynd to all inside front covers. Covers little worn and rubbed, particularly at corners, but bindings strong. Overall a VERY GOOD SET.
