FIRST EDITION 8vo. green clothbound hardback with decorative gilt and black titles to spine and upper board and blind-embossed decorations to lower board. 644pp. illustrated with upwards of 400 engravings including some folding maps. Faint pencil name to ffep, otherwise a clean copy with no previous owners' markings or inscriptions. Occasional light foxing throughout. Mark (possibly coloured crayon) to early blank. Hinges a little weak with endpapers splitting. Spine slightly soiled and some wear, particularly to top and base. Edges and corners of boards lightly worn and bumped. Overall a Good+ Copy.
